Privacy Policy of Hummingbird Food
Hummingbird Food (hummingbird-food.com) publishes hummingbird food and nectar guides: nectar recipes, safe ingredients, flowers and plants, natural diet and species. You can read every guide without an account, and we never ask for personal information to use the site. This policy explains what information is processed when you visit the site or contact us. The site is meant for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Information You Send Us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and your message. We use them only to reply to you, to review corrections and to improve our guides. We do not sell them, share them for marketing, or add you to a mailing list.
Technical Information
Like every website, the site relies on a hosting provider, Cloudflare, which processes standard technical data each time your browser requests a page, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This data is used to deliver pages, keep the site secure and understand overall traffic, not to identify you. Our pages also load fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the font files are requested.
Visitor Statistics
We count visits with Umami, an open-source, privacy-friendly analytics tool hosted for us by PikaPods, so we can see which guides are read. Umami sets no cookies and does not follow you across other websites. For each page view it records the page and its title, the website you came from, your browser, operating system, device type, screen size and language, and an approximate location (country, region and city) worked out from your IP address. The IP address itself is never stored: to count unique visitors without cookies, Umami turns it and your browser details into an anonymous code mixed with a secret that changes regularly, so it cannot be traced back to you. We only look at totals, and we never sell these statistics or use them for advertising.
How Long We Keep Information
We keep emails only as long as needed to answer them and handle any follow-up, or as long as the law requires. Technical logs are kept by our providers for a limited time under their own policies.
Advertising and Affiliate Partners
The site may show ads from partners such as Google AdSense, and some links may be affiliate links to retailers. When they are active, these partners may collect information such as your IP address and use cookies or similar technologies to measure visits and clicks and to show relevant ads, under their own privacy policies:
- Google (Fonts and AdSense): Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare (hosting and security): Privacy Policy.
Cookies
Hummingbird Food does not need cookies to show you our guides. When advertising or affiliate partners are active on a page, they may set cookies to measure visits, limit how often you see the same ad, or credit a purchase to the link you followed. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and every guide still works without them.

Conclusion
We collect as little information as we can and use it only to run the site, answer your messages and improve our guides. If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
